MAYA is currently providing free and confidential mental health and wellness services to females with current or previous justice-involvement. Counseling is offered in Allegheny County Jail through groups and individualized mental health counseling. Individuals can be connected during their time at the Allegheny County Jail, during their time in re-entry programs, and upon their return to their homes and communities.
MAYA utilizes a trauma-informed and strengths-based approach to working with individuals with traumatic experiences wanting to explore the healing process. MAYA collaborates with the client to decide the direction and focus of the counseling. Counseling services that begin at the Allegheny County Jail can be continued as the individual moves to a re-entry program or back into their home. MAYA's counseling services strive to provide continuity of counseling services and support.
